“Volume of Light,” the new series of work by the photographer Thomas Brown, exists at the crossroads of photography and social media, viewing art in a gallery and experiencing it online. First, he asks his audience to connect with and adopt an image from the series, and give it a name — then it lives with that title forever and is displayed with it intact when the image is printed to be shown in real life. (The series is on view starting today at The Supermarket in New York.) Visually, his images observe the play of light and time passing, depicting sculptural paper as a weighty constant that brings meteorites to mind. — NADIA VELLAM
